Official Rule Book 2010                                   
Disclaimer:
The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish
minimum acceptable requirements and uniform rules and race procedures for such events at Lovelock Speedway. These rules
shall govern the conduct of all events, and by participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have a complied with
these rules. NO EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATIONS OF, OR
COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULE AND/OR REGULATIONS. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are
in no way a guarantee against injury or death of a participant, spectator, or official. These rules and regulations apply to all
participants and karts at racing events sanctions at Lovelock Speedway.
General rules:
All drivers must have a signed release of liability form on file with the speedway. All minors must have a minors release form on
file with Lovelock Speedway. In addition, when parent or guardian is not in attendance, drivers must provide a designated
guardian form. Any driver/owner found to have lied about their age, or provide falsified documents, will be suspended from
competition.
Numbers: Numbers will be 0-99, in each class. Single and double digit numbers only. Minimum 12 inches tall, on the outside of
each wing panel, and in contrasting color. They must be readable from the scoring tower. A minimum 6” tall number, visible from
the rear of the kart is required. BIGGER is BETTER! There will be no duplicate numbers in any class, no letters. All drivers must
register their number with Lovelock Speedway every season.
REFUSAL OF ENTRY: We reserve the right to refuse service, entry or re-entry to anyone. Any individual, team or associate may
be refused entry for reasons such as debt owed, conduct, behavior or actions, or illegal activity of the driver, car owner, pit crew,
or family member.
PHYSICAL CONDITION, INTOXICANTS AND CONDUCT. ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY.
A. Any driver, car owner, pit crew, mechanics, or anyone entering the pit area during the day of the race, gives evidence of
physical or mental impairment, exhaustion, alcohol consumption or using drugs making him/her a potential danger to others on
the track or pit area, will be excluded from competition and ARE SUBJECT TO IMMEDIATE EJECTION BY THE OFFICIALS
AND/OR SECURITY PERSONNEL…
B. No alcoholic beverages may be consumed by anyone in the pit area during the event.
C. Anyone who is exiting the pit area to the grandstand or parking lot area to obtain intoxicants will have to forfeit their Pit Pass
and remain out of the pit area until all race events are completed. The cost of the Pit Pass will not be reimbursed.
D. If consumption of alcoholic beverages becomes an issue, we reserve the right to eliminate alcoholic beverages from being
allowed onto the premises at anytime
E. It is against Nevada state law for minors under the age of 21 to possess alcohol. Any competitor/minor suspected of illegal
possession or consumption of alcohol or drugs will be suspended from competition, and the proper authorities will be notified. If
authorities confirm suspicion, penalty will be permanent suspension. If competitor chooses to leave before authorities arrive, they
will be considered guilty, and permanently suspended.
F. There will be ZERO TOLERANCE for any improper conduct, physical, and/or verbal abuse to any individual or group at any time
G. Any person who shall strike or cause bodily harm or use improper language directed towards the Officials or any other person
will be automatically suspended. The offender may also face assault charges or have legal action brought against them
H. Suspension and/or fines may be assessed to family or friends. Objectionable conduct, such as arguing with or shouting at
officials, will not be tolerated and may subject the driver to be black flagged, fined and/or the offender being removed from the
premises

SECTION 1 General track rules:
Drivers, parents, and crew members shall read and understand the racing rule. Parents shall make sure their children know and
understand all rules and regulations
Absolutely no alcoholic beverages in pit area. Open container in your pit will subject owner, driver, and kart to DQ and
suspension. Anyone supplying alcohol to a minor will be permanently suspended.
Parents: You are responsible for your child’s safety, and actions. Make sure you read and understand all disclaimers when you
sign and enter the race track ground
Push vehicles: No one under 16 years of age may operate a push vehicle. NO PASSENGERS ALLOWED ON PUSH VEHICLES.
Rough driving will result in penalty, fine, and/or suspension at discretion of race director / flagman / promoter.
Failure to obey any flag will result in DQ, penalty, and/or suspension at discretion of race director / flagman / promoter.
It is ultimately the obligation of each participant to insure that his or her conduct and equipment, comply with all applicable
speedway rules.
Drivers: make sure you read and understand the racing rules. Some things have changed since last year, and some things are
different from other race tracks procedure. Any display of unsportsmanlike conduct will result in penalty, fine, and/or suspension
at discretion of race director / flagman / promoter. All drivers assume responsibility for any and all actions towards anyone shall
be cause for penalty, suspension, loss of any awards (money and points), and possible arrest.

SECTION 2 RACING RULES & ETIQUETTE:
Please be staged and ready to race. We are not obligated to wait for anyone.
Green Flag: The entire track is open for racing. Passing will not be permitted before the green flag is displayed, at designated
point.
All karts must stay side by side, at MEDIUM SPEED, until the flag man throws that green flag. Failure to do so may result in one
or both karts being sent to the rear of the field. There will only be one green flag attempt at a double file restart.
Double file restarts: Karts will maintain medium speed until the flag man throws the green flag, no passing until you pass the
cone at the flag man. Karts lagging back on starts may be penalized at flag man’s discretion.
All starts must be sportsmanlike. Brake checking, letting off the throttle, hitting the kart in front of you, or any
unsportsmanlike behavior will not be tolerated, and will cause for penalty or disqualification.
Red/Yellow Flag: Restart Race. This on the first lap only. Restarts only on false start. (Green flag not thrown by flag man).
Yellow Flag: we do not race to the yellow. Scoring will revert to the last completed lap green flag lap, (completed by karts not
involved in caution). The yellow flag does count as a completed lap. You should maintain your position. Any kart racing through a
wreck, or not slowing will be penalized or DQ’d at discretion of flag man / race director. Any kart involved in a caution will line up
at the rear of field for restart. Race director’s discretion is final.
All karts must come to a parade lap speed single file. Failure to do so will result in DQ
Red Flag: STOP AS SOON AS SAFELY POSSIBLE.
Revert back to previous lap for line up
Red flag may be used on the last lap and scoring will be running order on previous lap.  (with kart causing red scored accordingly)
FAILURE TO OBSERVE THE RED FLAG WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION.
Blue/Yellow Flag: To inform slower moving karts that leader is about to pass. Hold your line.
Black Flag: PROCEED TO PIT AREA for consultation. Kart will cease being scored from time flag is displayed.
White Flag: ONE LAP TO FINISH. Once white flag has been taken by leader, race will end on next lap. If there is a
yellow/checkered finish, scoring will revert to previous completed lap. Karts involved in caution will be scored at the rear of the
field.
Checkered Flag: Race is officially over.
If a kart has a MINOR problem on racetrack and Official can easily fix it, kart may remain on the track but will have to line up
at the rear of field.
If the kart is sent to the pits or work area and returns to track, kart will line up in rear of pack. We will not wait for you.
Karts that stall during a yellow may be restarted once without penalty. If it stalls again driver must line up at the rear of the field
for restart.
Karts stopped for safety check under yellow, will get their spot in lineup back, ONE TIME. Subsequent stops under yellow will
result in kart being sent to the rear of the field.
Jumped starts will result in disqualification or penalty at official’s discretion.
Drivers who are involved in or the cause of a yellow or a red flag will start in the rear of the field, at the discretion of the race
director or flag man.
Excessive yellows: if you are involved in two yellows, the third will be considered as an excessive and you will be black flagged at
the flag man’s or race director’s discretion.

SECTION 3 Race Format:
All classes will draw for heat race starting position.
After first race all future races will be inverted by points. All consolation mains will start straight up. Any racer that has no
points will start scratch at the first race they attend.
Heat races will be 10 laps
Trophy dashes will be 1 lap per kart
Main events will be 20 laps
Any race may be shorted due to excessive yellows or time constraints at discretion of race director
If laps are to be added to a race, competitors will be notified in advance.
Classes must have a minimum of 5 karts. Classes may be combined at discretion of race director.
Fighting on premises will result in permanent suspension. Drivers are responsible for the actions of their pit crew. Pit crew
members observed verbally or physically abusing anyone will result in loss of accrued points for their driver and/or fine.
Any display of unsportsmanlike conduct (on or off the track) will result in a FINE, SUSPENSION, and IMMEDIATE REMOVAL
FROM RACE AREA, POINT PENALTIES, or ALL OF THE ABOVE.
SECTION 4 ALL KART CLASSES
Basic requirements
Frames must be of kart configuration. Not to exceed 90” in overall length. NO EXCEPTIONS. Kart not to exceed 350lb, including
full tank of gas.
Wheels not to exceed 6” in diameter. Four tires and wheels are required in traditional location. No suspensions
Cages are mandatory
Wing sides must stay within 3” from outer most edge of kart. No sharp edges or exposed bolts. Overall length 48” maximum. No
nose wings. Minimum wing side panels- 32”x12”, minimum 32”x32” center section. Remote wing adjusters are allowed.
Uppermost part of the kart and wing not to exceed 78”
Bodies can be fiberglass, aluminum, or lexan. No sharp edges or protruding parts.
Wing, Hood, and tail piece are mandatory in all classes.
No bars, other than regular nerf bar, may extend out past outer edge of tire on either side of kart, all nerfs and bumpers must be
on, and secure for kart to complete.
ALL KARTS MUST DISPLAY A MINIMUM 12” NUMBERS ON RIGHT AND LEFT SIDE OF WING. BIGGER is BETTER! Numbers
that are not legible will not be scored. NO duplicate numbers in any class.. Numbers must be displayed on contrasting background.
There must be a minimum 6 inch number visible from rear of the kart.
Floor pans must be a minimum .090 thick aluminum, and must extend from front of seat to pedals. Floor pan must be attached
with bolts
This is open wheel racing. No front-end cowcatchers. If in doubt, see officials.
No part of kart may obscure the driver’s vision
All karts must have a solid rear axle, no ratcheting hubs or other mechanical means of unlocking 1 wheel on the rear axle.
All karts must have a wing at all times on the track
All exhaust systems must be contained inside the profile of the kart
No titanium or other exotic materials allowed on any kart.
All lead weight must be painted white with kart number, and be securely bolted to kart. Any kart losing a weight on the track will
be penalized.
Excessive smoke from exhaust. Make sure your carb is jetted correct. Excessive smoke may lead to DQ until it is fixed, especially
during any indoor racing.
Must have a rear hydraulic brake in good working condition at all times.
All karts must have an approved five point racing seat belts. Shoulder harness must be mounted in a way to restrict forward body
motion independently of seat. Lap seat belts should be mounted on frame or seat belt loop. Cut or frayed seat belts will not be
allowed. This entire rule is strongly enforced
SFI approved helmets supports, and arm restraints are mandatory. Arm restraints must be attached to lap belt and worn below
the elbow. Gloves are mandatory.
Helmets:
MIN: Snell 2000 or promoter approved.
Must fit driver’s head.
Aluminum high back seats are mandatory. Seat mounts to the frame, with no excessive holes.
All drivers must maintain a working fire extinguisher in their pit at all times.
All karts must have a 6” nylon tie attached to spark plug wire.
Kill switch is MANDATORY, within drivers reach.
Minimum standard for roll cage (tubing thickness):
All classes 7/8” .063 chrome molly or 1” .083 steel.
All vertical cage bars must be connected by a horizontal bar at the front and rear of uppermost cage. Halos are highly
recommended.
Roll cage must be securely fastened with a safety chain and grade 5 or better bolt, in at least four spots.
Driver’s body must be completely inside roll cage.
Roll cage height minimum of 2” clearance above driver’s helmet and bottom plane of upper roll bar. Halo’s are recommended on
all karts
Driving apparel: Minimum SFI 1 racing suits MANDATORY. Abrasion rated karting suits are not acceptable (SFI suits are not
required for box stock... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
No sharp or protruding objects on any part of the kart
Fuel line location cannot be closer than 2” to any of the exhaust system at any time and shall not be above the exhaust. Fuel line
must have ample slack for cage movement. Must be petroleum grade fuel line.
Fuel tank location: Out board mounted fuel tanks must have metal protection, particularly fuel petcock area.
Chain guards are required.
Door bars are required. Opening door bar must open from the rear. Left side protection is recommended.

SECTION 5 Four stroke class requirements
Box Stock:
1.        Drivers must be promoter approved, 5-8 years of age
2.        Must be born before 2005.
3.        This class is for new, inexperienced drivers. Promoter will determine when it is time to move driver up.
4.        POINTS ARE AWARDED IN THS CLASS. Drivers are eligible for end of year awards.
5.        Engine:
All vehicles restricted to a maximum of one rear-mounted – based on a five-horsepower, single cylinder, single-spark-plug,
flathead-configured, four cycle engine – engine from a recognized OEM or aftermarket supplier. Must retain original five-
horsepower engine block configuration. Porting, polishing, and relieving of block; boring of cylinder; machining of deck surface
permitted. Aftermarket head permitted. Adding material to deck surface, installing a space between the block and cylinder head,
or any other modification designed to increase the effective deck height of the cylinder prohibited.
6. Exhaust: Regardless of design, no part of tailpipe may extend more than 27 inches past exhaust attachment point on rear of
engine block. Outlet must be directed rearward, away from driver and engine.
7. Fuel: Restricted to gasoline, alcohol, or gasohol. Nitrous oxide and/or propylene oxide and/or nitromethane prohibited. No fuel
addictives, power enhancers, or mix-ins allowed; scents permitted.
8.        Air filters: Air filters must be securely mounted.    
9.        Fuel Systems: Any naturally aspirated carburetor, Fuel injection prohibited. Auxiliary vacuum fuel pump permitted, must
be pulsed from manifold only. Pressurized fuel systems prohibited. Fuel tank/cell must be equipped with a screw-on or positive
locking cap. All vents must be routed downward and away from driver. Open hole(s) in fuel tank/cell prohibited.
10.        Oil System: Oil additives for the intent of producing power prohibited.
11.        Starter: Pull-rope or remote starter mandatory. Any driver-activated/operated starting systems prohibited.
12.        Throttle: All vehicles must be equipped with a positive throttle return spring, which shall close throttle when released.
Throttle control must be manually operated by driver’s foot: Electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, or any other devises may in no
way affect throttle operation. IF WE DON’T SAY YOU CAN….. YOU CAN’T!!!

BOX STOCK OUTLAW
1.        Drivers 8-14 years of age.
Engine:
2.         All vehicles restricted to a maximum of one rear-mounted – based on a five-horsepower, single cylinder, single-spark-
plug, flathead-configured, four cycle engine – engine from a recognized OEM or aftermarket supplier. Must retain original five-
horsepower engine block configuration. Porting, polishing, and relieving of block; boring of cylinder; machining of deck surface
permitted. Aftermarket head permitted. Adding material to deck surface, installing a space between the block and cylinder head,
or any other modification designed to increase the effective deck height of the cylinder prohibited.
3.        Exhaust: Regardless of design, no part of tailpipe may extend more than 27 inches past exhaust attachment point on rear
of engine block. Outlet must be directed rearward, away from driver and engine.
4.        Fuel: Restricted to gasoline, alcohol, or gasohol. Nitrous oxide and/or propylene oxide and/or nitromethane prohibited. No
fuel addictives, power enhancers, or mix-ins allowed; scents permitted.
5.        Air filters: The air cleaner type and mounting is optional, but must be promoter approved.
6.        Fuel Systems: Any naturally aspirated carburetor, Fuel injection prohibited. If using an aftermarket carburetor, must be
accompanied with a billet aluminum flywheel.  Auxiliary vacuum fuel pump permitted, must be pulsed from manifold only.
Pressurized fuel systems prohibited. Fuel tank/cell must be equipped with a screw-on or positive locking cap. All vents must be
routed downward and away from driver. Open hole(s) in fuel tank/cell prohibited.
7.        Oil System: Oil additives for the intent of producing power prohibited.
8.        Starter: Pull-rope or remote starter mandatory. Any driver-activated/operated starting systems prohibited.
9.        Throttle: All vehicles must be equipped with a positive throttle return spring, which shall close throttle when released.
Throttle control must be manually operated by driver’s foot: Electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, or any other devises may in no
way affect throttle operation.
10.        Fuel Tank:  Location is optional, but must be promoter approved. Out board mounted tanks must have metal protection.
Floor mount tanks with fuel pumps are allowed. IF WE DON’T SAY YOU CAN….. YOU CAN’T!!!


SECTION 8 ALL TWO STROKE CLASSES

125 OUTLAW:
1.        Drivers 11-16 years old. All drivers must be promoter approved.
2.        Drivers must be born before 1999.
3.        Engine must be approved 125cc dirt bike engine.
4.        Stock OEM heads, may be milled, combustion area must remain stock.
5.        Kick starter may be removed and plugged.
6.        Cylinder and case may be ported.
7.        Must use stock 36mm carb. No mods allowed, Carbs may be interchanged among manufacturers.
8.        Aftermarket reeds/ reed assemblies, and spacers are allowed.
9.        Dirt bike pipes and silencers only, must be promoter approved. Must meet DBA requirements.
10.        Must have complete and operable OEM transmission and clutch.
11.        No lightening of any internal components.
12.        No decking the cylinder or block, no cylinder spacers. Multiple gaskets are considered a spacer.
13.        No special factory parts allowed. All parts must be readily available to the average consumer. All parts will be compared to
known stock parts.
14.        No welding/ cutting/ reshaping of cases, except for pre-approved repairs.
15.        Minimum weight is 350 lbs.
IF WE DON’T SAY YOU CAN…..YOU CAN’T!!!

JR 500 OUTLAW:
1.        Drivers 13-18 years old. All drivers must be promoter approved.
2.        Drivers must be born before 1997
3.        Must use sock 36mm carb. No mods allowed. Carbs may be interchanged among manufactures.
4.        Stock head with no mods. Welding water outlets is approved.
5.        Aftermarket reeds/ reed assemblies, intakes, and reed spacers are approved.
6.        Must have complete and operable OEM transmission and clutch.
7.        No lightening of any internal components.
8.        No decking of the cylinder or block, no cylinder spacers. Multiple gaskets are considered spacers. Cylinder porting
permitted.
9.        No special factory parts allowed. All parts must be readily avalible to the average consumer. All parts will be compared to
known stock parts.
10.        All other applicable 500 rules apply.
11.        Minimum weight is 400lbs
500 Outlaw:
1.        Drivers age 18 and over. Drivers must possess a valid state driver’s license.
2.        Drivers may enter this class at 16 with prior racing experience and promoter approval. Drivers under 18 must be born
before 1993 with a minor release form.
3.        Engines must be approved 2 stroke engine. Minimum 400cc maximum 500cc plus. 080 overbore, with stock stroke.
4.        Must have OEM operable clutch. No slipper type / automatic aftermarket clutches.
5.        Gears may be removed from transmission
6.        Kick starter may be removed and plugged
7.        No cylinder spaces
8.        Porting of cylinder and cases allowed.
9.        Cylinder head is non tech, cool heads permitted.
10.        Aftermarket reeds, reed cages, intake and reed spacers permitted.
11.        Any dirt bike carb must be readily available to the average consumer. Any mods permitted.
12.        Minimum weight is 450lbs.




DESPERADO 500:
1.        Must be a minimum of 30 years old. Drivers under 40 years of age must have a minimum of 200 lbs body weight. All
drivers must be promoter approved. This class is intended to be a true sportsman class. Over aggressive driving will not be
tolerated.
2.        Must have complete and operable OEM transmission and clutch.
3.        No decking the cylinder or block, no cylinder spacer. Cylinder porting permitted.
4.        Stock head, may be milled and have water outlets welded.
5.        All other applicable 500 rules apply.
6.        Turn signals and brake lights are required.
7.        Minimum weight is 475lbs.
8.        Please disregard rule number 6 and have fun racing!
9.        Desperado 500 drivers may compete in 500.
